The Truth Behind “Minions”

Minions! Minions have been on this planet far longer than we have. They go by many names, Dave, Carl, oh, that one is Norbit. He is an idiot. They all share the same goal: To serve the most despicable master around.” — Narrator

If you’re anything like me, a person whose entire existence involves around breathing the web, then surely, you’ve heard of a fairly old, infamous conspiracy theory that spiraled the web a couple years back, that presentably to this day never seems to really go away.

Minions!

You know the adorable, small yellow creatures shaped in the form of a pill capsule (Wikipedia) from the 2010 film ‘Despicable Me’.

Minions… These guys right here

are actually said to be based off Jewish children that were adopted, tortured, and experimented on by Nazis scientist during WWII due to their lack of being able to speak German.

Inside this theory it is said that the scientists would use these young children to test out a poisonous gas known as Cyclone B (given the suit) and that their high-pitched screams from these cruel experiments is just another representation of why their voices are so high-pitched in the film.

Kind of sick right?

I know.

If only this theory were true.

Infact, the picture above has nothing to do with Jewish children or Nazis but is instead adult British soldiers wearing a Hall-Rees escape apparatus, a suit designed to be able to escape submarines.

Early submarines were unreliable and often sank, trapping crews. This suit was designed to keep crew members safe, until the Navy halted production after noticing that the suit was too bulky.

The real truth behind the minions short and simple were that they were just originally created to make the audience laugh and not even expected to blow up as much as they did.

Thankfully, this theory was wrong, but I still think it would of gave a twisted, gruesome, outlook on the beloved kids movie.
